UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY WASHINGTON, D.C. 20460 OFFICE OF PREVENTION, PESTICIDES AND TOXIC SUBSTANCES 6/18/93 (PR) NOTICE 93-8 NOTICE TO MANUFACTURERS, FORMULATORS, PRODUCERS AND REGISTRANTS OF PESTICIDE PRODUCTS ATTENTION: Persons Responsible for Registration of Pesticides SUBJECT: Labeling Statement Prohibiting Application to Water; Amendment to P.R. Notice 93-3. This notice adds one paragraph to P.R. Notice 93-3, which requested registrants to amend product labeling to include a new labeling statement prohibiting application of a pesticide to water for certain products. The purpose of this change is twofold: (1) to permit registrants to omit the phrase "For terrestrial uses" from the labeling statement specified in PR Notice 93-3 when a product is registered only for terrestrial uses and (2) to allow registrants to use a simpler statement that consumers will more readily understand on products registered only for residential use. The following paragraph is hereby added to "Section II. POLICY" of PR Notice 93-3: If a product is registered only for terrestrial, forestry (except aerial application) or domestic outdoor uses, the phrase "For terrestrial uses" may be omitted from the new statement. If a product is registered only for outdoor, residential use, then the statement "Do not apply directly to water" may be used. If you have questions regarding this addition to P.R. Notice 93-3, you may contact Jeff Kempter, Registration Division (703-305- 5448). /signed/ Lawrence E.
