The intent of this network is to inform interested parties of impending pesticide use cancellations and to afford those parties the opportunity to affect decision made by the pesticide registrants in concert with EPA. To the best of our knowledge the uses mentioned below will not appear on any label registered by the EPA following their expected cancellation.


asulam (Asulox)

Rhone Poulenc Ag. Co. has announced that is plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the herbicide asulam (Asulox) on ditchbanks.

chlorpyrifos (Lorsban)

DowElanco has announced that it plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the insecticide chlorpyrifos (Lorsban) on dill and okra. Note: a Special Local Needs use on clover (grown for seed) in Oregon has recently been approved for this pesticide.

Hoechst Celanese Corp. has announced that it plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the herbicide diclofop-methyl (Hoelon 3EC) on soybeans.

Sandoz Agro Div. has announced that it plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the insecticide fluvalinate (Spur 22EW) on tobacco seed used for planting.

methyl parathion

Cheminova has announced that it plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the insecticide methyl parathion on almonds, apples, apricots, cherries, cucumbers, gooseberries, grapes, hops, peaches, pears, peppers, plums, prunes, tobacco, tomatoes, safflower and strawberries. Some of these uses may be retained in light of the cancellation of parathion used if enough users are interested.

Helena Chemical Co. has announced that it plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the insecticide mevinphos (Phosdrin) for greenhouse uses.

DuPont Agricultural Products has announced that it plans to voluntarily cancel the use of the herbicide terbacil (Sinbar) on citrus and strawberries. A 24 (c) registration for the use of Sinbar on strawberries in North Carolina has been filed and accepted by EPA.
