Volume 2, Number 10
December 8, 1992
The intent of this network is to inform interested parties of impending pesticide use cancellations and to afford those parties the opportunity to affect decision made by the pesticide registrants in concert with EPA. To the best of our knowledge the uses mentioned below will not appear on any label registered by the EPA following their expected cancellation.
The USEPA has proposed that all tolerances for the herbicide, dinoseb, be revoked. Most uses were cancelled in 1986, and the remaining uses were cancelled in 1988. However, existing stocks if labeled were allowed to be used on DRY PEAS, LENTILS, CHICKPEAS, and GREEN PEAS in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington during 1988 and on CRANBERRIES in Oregon and Washington in 1988 and 1989. Any comments should be sent by 1/11/93 to the Public Response Section of the USEPA with reference to OPP-300261.

The USEPA is considering measures to reduce the risk of parathion use on the nine crops on which it is still registered: ALFALFA, BARLEY, CANOLA, CORN, COTTON, SORGHUM, SOYBEANS, SUNFLOWERS and WHEAT. The use of parathion was canceled on most sites in 1991. The USEPA has held public meetings on the risks and benefits of parathion use in Lincoln, Nebraska on 12/1/92, in Amarillo, Texas on 12/3/92 and is holding one in Baltimore, Maryland on 12/10/92.
