Volume 2, Number 3
March 19, 1992

The intent of this network is to inform interested parties of impending pesticide use cancellations and to afford those parties the opportunity to affect decision made by the pesticide registrants in concert with EPA. To the best of our knowledge the uses mentioned below will not appear on any label registered by the EPA following their expected cancellation.

fenthion (Baytex)

Miles, Inc. (formerly Mobay Corporation) has petitioned EPA to cancel the use of fenthion on alfalfa, clover, pasture grasses, rice and ornamentals due to the cost of environmental data for reregistration. The sole remaining use will likely be adult mosquito control in Florida only.

nicotine (Bonide Tobacco Dust)

Bonide products has petitioned EPA to cancel the uses of nicotine on raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, peas, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions and squash due to the cost of residue data for reregistration.

parathion (ethyl parathion)

EPA has extended the use of existing stocks of cancelled non-EC parathion products through 7/31/92 because of an excess of WP products which are unlikely to be relabeled for the retained field crop uses (alfalfa, barley, canola, corn, cotton, sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers, wheat). Cheminova is accepting cancelled EC products through distribution channels that are in unopened containers and in good condition. It is suggested that cancelled EC products may be relabeled and used on the retained field crop sites.
