The intent of this network is to inform interested parties of recent or impending pesticide use cancellations, tolerance revocations, and other items of agricultural interest. To the best of our knowledge, the uses mentioned here, unless otherwise indicated, will not appear on any label registered by the USEPA after those uses are canceled. We recommend that you express any concerns or questions you have to the contact mentioned below or to your NAPIAP State Liaison Representative. If you wish to contact us at USDA, our phone number is (301) 504-8846, and our fax number is (301) 504-8063.
The USEPA is postponing the effective date (formerly for 3/10/94) for the order revoking the food additive tolerance for residues of diclorvos on PACKAGED OR BAGGED NONPERISHABLE PROCESSED FOOD because of a petition submitted by AMVAC Chemical Corp. The notice of revocation for residues of this insecticide was reported here on 11/19/93. The USEPA found that residues of this pesticide were in violation of the Delaney Clause. The USEPA is staying (postponing) the effective date of this order until such time as they issue their response to AMVAC's stay petition. Comments on the stay, with reference to OPP-300237B, should be submitted to the OPP Docket of EPA by 3/28/94.

The USEPA has revoked the food additive tolerance for residues of dicofol in or on DRIED TEA as of 5/9/94. This action is being taken because the USEPA has determined that this food additive regulation is inconsistent with the Delaney Clause in Section 409 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA). The USEPA has classified dicofol as a possible human carcinogen. Requests for a hearing, objections to this action, or petitions for a stay of this action must be received by the EPA Hearing Clerk and Public Response Branch with the code OPP-300238A by 4/8/94. Dicofol is not registered for use on tea in the U.S. However, because of its use to control mites in growing tea outside the U.S., a tolerance has been required for imported tea.

The USEPA has issued an intent to cancel all products of oxydemeton-methyl based on a request for voluntary cancellation from all of its registrants. Notice of this request was made here on 11/5/93, along with a list of sites affected. Unless this request is withdrawn by 6/9/94, the USEPA is likely to publish the cancellation of this insecticide-miticide. Existing stocks may be sold or shipped by the registrants until 9/30/94. Existing stocks in the hands of dealers and users may be shipped, sold, and used until such supplies are exhausted.
